How to look after your skin in various ages

Carefully caring for our skin is a good method for keeping it young longer. To provide a truly effective care, we need to know our skin type and determine its needs in relation to its kind and age. At various stages – youth, maturity and ageing skin has different needs, influenced by the age and the changes that occur. Unfortunately, over the years, our skin begins to lose its elasticity, moisture in the epidermis, leading to ageing and its cells begin a phase of “lounging” by delaying the process of renewal and contributes to the greyish and uneven complexion.

We should consider the age of our skin when selecting the right care for it. The aim is always the same– normalizing skin functions, slowing the ageing process and protecting it from external factors. The best to pay a little more attention to the skin that changes over the years and to deliver special care is to work on it, and take care of the skin, appropriately to its type and age.

Up to 12 years of age

Skin

Until the age 12, or in the so-called childhood, our skin is perfect. At this age, we have normal skin, which is every woman’s dream and the goal of any cosmetic preparation. Sebaceous and sweat glands are not functioning at this age, which in itself leads to a perfect texture and a pleasant smell. Skin functions – breathing, hydration, nutrition, regeneration and protection are running on 100%. The skin condition at this age is a benchmark for excellence and a struggle to achieve in the future.

Care

The problems in skin care at the childhood stage limits to cleaning the face and using light moisturizers, also avoiding harsh soaps and softeners rich in vitamins and minerals, that might retain moisture. When a babies’ skin requires hydration, greasy milk or baby oil is used, to avoid problems associated with dryness that occurs with frequent washing. At the age of 8-12 it is good to use washing gels and water based lotions for skin care.

From 12 to 25 years old

Skin

This is one of the first problematic periods which we have to deal with. At this age, the organism starts to mature, and skin problems are very often associated with that. Hormone production and maturation of the body create an imbalance in the body, especially in the skin. This is also the time at which our skin begins to change. If the production of secretions from sebaceous glands goes through a major change, the skin greasy, if less severely – combination and if low or no production, the skin becomes dry. This period determines the fate of our skin and the care routine we have to undergo, for the skin to become normal again. Thick, dark eyebrows, thin flexible figure, with small ears, arms and legs. And with all this cosmetic euphoria, it does not help, when the world is full of outraged statements by those who find the makeup of the

Ladies in the XVI century unnatural and vulgar. “Do not cover your face with white, not like indecent virgins who painted masks” – call moralists.

Care

The type of skin care is determined by the skin type. If there’s a hormonal imbalance in the body, our skin becomes oily, in most cases, it is affected by acne problem and becomes problematic. In this case, emphasis needs to be put on a good clean skin with the right products intended for this skin type–gels for oil control, washing without soap component, tonics with pore shrinking properties and hydrating daily moisturizers. The important thing here is the use of antibacterial products according to the following skin care scheme – cleansing, toning and moisturizing.

If your skin has become dry, then the care is somewhat different. It is better to avoid washing products and emphasise on cleansing milks and lotions. They provide more comfort and less irritation. The main objective here is hydration, so it is better to focus on moisturizing products – cleansing milk, softening and moisturizing tonics and hydro-creams to retain moisture in the skin and increase the moisture level. The lack of moisture in the skin leads to ageing and, in this respect, oily skin is favored and ages slower.

Important:

The water-lipid mantle is a very important thing. It is a natural defense of our skin shell, which is made up of water, fat and salt. Thanks to it, the moisture retained in the skin and harmful factors like sunlight and dirt penetrate the skin with a difficulty. In oily skin this shell is well defined due to the presence of more fat, while in dry skin it is very thin and cracked in places, which leads to faster ageing. The biggest destroyers of this protective barrier is the sun, soap and improper care.

From 25 to 35 years old

Skin

Now the skin is already defined as mature. And the 5 main functions begin to work slightly slower and taking care of it becomes a little more serious. Just at that moment appear the first signs of ageing, such as light wrinkles around the eyes and on the cheeks, frown lines and the skin becomes less hydrated. The production of epidermal cells begins to slow down, leading to drooping of the skin. Now we need to focus on products with an anti-aging effect and active ingredients.

Care

The products that we have used until now do not provide the necessary care and it is time to replace them with a little more serious formulas, rich in ingredients. This is when the four-step skin care routine steps in. Until now we only used the first three stages– cleansing, toning and moisturizing the face. During this period, the skin needs nourishment and ‘feeding’, which supports and enhances the effectiveness of its basic functions. This fourth stage –night cream. Night products are rich in ingredients therefor they influence the nutrition of the skin. By choosing a good day cream with sun protection, and protecting and moisturizing functions. Clean the skin with regular friendly products and providing it a good ‘breathing’ and increasing the level of oxygen in it.

In this age it is good to add three more products for skin care – mask, scrub and under-eye cream. The mask should be applied to a cleansed face twice a week for a concentrated care – feeding, cleaning and hydration. Scrubs are cleaning products with granules that polish the skin, which accelerates the process of cell regeneration and improves the complexion and contour, care for the eye area, which as we know, ages most rapidly.

Over 35 years

Skin

During this period, the skin is classified as a mature and aging. This aging process is quite strengthened and skin care becomes much more serious. Functions are performed at 20-30%, which contributes to poor skin care by the body. Circulation becomes weak, the skin loses elasticity, the complexion becomes dull and spots appear under the influence of weak regeneration. Menopause plays a massive role– it is a serious breakdown in the body, which affects the skin and hormonal aging.

Care

At this stage, everything has to be done more – cleansing, moisturizing, peeling and special products. Or otherwise the skin care becomes much more serious. Specialized products must be used to combat hormonal skin ageing, any collagen creams, express lifting products and serums. Besides the regular care by cleansing, toning, moisturizing, nourishing, eye cream and mask, extra care should be added. Deeply hydrating serum as a sub-cream, ampoules and capsules with nourishing oils and collagen extracts, bleaching creams for. It is compulsory to use peelings and if the skin allows you to, do it three times a week to speed up the production of epidermal cells.

During this period, the skin care must be uncompromising, especially if we forgot to take care of it in the period of 25-35 years.

Important:

Except in the years of puberty and menopause, there is one more time when the body receives a hormonal imbalance and this is pregnancy, when the body is under the tremendous stress and change, which leads to changes in the skin. Be sure to capture this moment and provide a special care for your skin. Use oily creams on the abdomen and cleavage to prevent stretch marks during the pregnancy and postnatal to emphasize strongly astringent products. You cannot avoid skin staining during pregnancy but there are ways to reduce it, by regular peels and the use of bleaching creams after pregnancy. Take care of the skin at the neckline and bust. Apply astringent products and do not let the hot shower water to run directly on to the area.
